What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

Got a few things in my Amazon basket for next month, and hopefully all in a few consecutive days to avoid wasting too many days. Two are first aid items that recently expired. Also some disposable nitrile gloves, anti-slip underlay for rug, and a new laundry basket.

One item is from America, but it says about 4 days. This is mini carabiners. I bought two others, one for my keys, but it's a bit big. NB. It is only 20mm shorter than a real Salewa which I use for my fire escape ladder, so you need to be careful not to use a toy crab for climbing! Mine are safely in situ ready for action, anyway. Another think I've noticed, the real crabs were 2 for £13, and the toy ones are 5 for £12, not a massive difference considering what you are getting. Unfortunately I can't find them in smaller quantities.

Also, my Salewas are screwgate. Not all climbing crabs are. But they are obviously better.

I've just bought 30 x 2000cc oxygen absorbers from Fresherpack - in packs of 10. I'm going to repack all my existing long-term storage food with the new oxygen absorbers then pack 10 x more with new dried goods. I've then got 10 more for any 'panic purchases' when we see how El Nino starts to play out.

I'd use Maillons rather then krabs, but I learnt most of my RA from a Caver rather then climbers

just a little thing..... Weeded and dug over about 1/3 of my allotment and harvested a bin full of bindweed.
Tomorrow I plan to sow with a cover crop in preference to overwintering, using a tarp or weed membrane, which did little to suppress the horrid weeds.
If time permits I'm going to start trimming back and composting a 10 foot long courgette plant that is making a bid for freedom.

Next door's roof has membrane on. They didn't stay long. Were gone by about 2pm. But they could have done 6 hours solid, and they did get all of the first stage done. We have very heavy rain forecast. I'll be impressed if they even turn up. Obviously it is a bit of a concern. I assume the membrane is tucked under mine, and some of my slates, and maybe half a slate is missing in places.

Royal Mail finally have my waterproof jacket and expect to deliver it tomorrow. I have changed the default 'leave in greenhouse' to no safe place. Is pretty weird seeing as most people don't have a greenhouse. I certainly don't.

Spreadsheets/notes checked for expiry dates are General, Home First Aid Kit, Bugout Bag FAK, Bike bag FAK, Smoke Alarms etc, and one for Imodium, hand sanitiser wipes, rehydration tablets etc.

Added a carbon monoxide alarm, rehydration tablets and some cream to my Amazon basket for next week or the week after. Already had two first aid items in it, disposable gloves etc. Made a mental note of some more items expiring later this year.

Smart meters not working so been onto octupus managed 16 years in old house refusing them with no issues but this one already had them in ...technology eh...
Octupus were talking about the price hike and said let's look while we're here about a fixed tariff with a £50 exit fee I'm on tracker
Turned out it would be the same amount so she finished up with saying its peace of mind though ..so that's a no also
Been stocking up on over the counter meds and more coffee
Taking off this weekend birthday next week so few days away just paid for annual pre payment cert for prescriptions
Have enough for a red Cross set up with me
Last birthday of 50s ...free prescriptions next year when I'm 60 ..if they don't change it by then and knowing my luck it will
