A race to get the mortgage paid off before I keel over with a stress induced heart attack.

Well it’s either a viral infection, my BP playing the Hokey Cokey and going up and down for no reason or a mini stroke but he’s pretty sure it isn’t that.

Cholesterol is spot on and other than a few things, headache, wobbliness and a wee tremor I have turning into a shake, no other symptoms for a stroke but he can’t fully rule it out. BP in the surgery actually behaved itself and went down to 130/88, it’s a miracle!

Phoned my best mate and he simply asked ‘well are you dying or not, if you are, can I get yer whisky collection?’. That’s caring in Scotland for you…

He wouldn't be your best mate if he did anything less.

How can you prep against idiots? The police budgie is currently flying overhead and it’s like the first night of the Somme.

Someone is going to end up seriously injured tonight up here. Sorry for the rant.

Kiwififer has highlighted how on earth can you prep when there's always going to be people who are intent on causing misery
Since the dark nights I've had to change routine which is so frustrating but for safety ..
No more short cuts on the canal not just for oppertunistic bad people ..so i dont trip and fall in as i would ! .. being more aware of surroundings and who is around ..walking alone has a creepier feeling anyhow when it's so dark so had to change times for the outdoor exercise which I hate but its sensible
Home security ..have more timers now set for earlier and for longer for lights to come on and at last im investing in a ring doorbell ..I know I'm years behind. .. a stronger light to come on when anyone is picked up near door etc
Its not a deterrent for a lot but if it makes it harder to gain access or cause trouble then good ...

You got me thinking. Top half of my front door is glass. I keep it mortice locked when it's dark, as someone could break the glass and open the Yale lock from the inside. In fact I normally have it locked all the time. If someone rings the bell when it's dark, I normally put the hall light on, but this may blind me more than it illuminates outside. So I may try looking thorough with the light off. There is a street lamp on the other side of the road, so they would be lit from behind. If necessary, I'll get a PIR motion lamp, but battery, seeing as it's a terrible position for solar, in a west facing open porch. I can get someone to fix it to the brick, and then I just have to slide the lamp out of the holder to charge the battery. I'm a bit skint due to paying a year's insurance and two nights in a hotel already this month, so it's in my Amazon basket. First I'll see if I have enough light anyway, or try to. It would help if someone comes to the door.

Had heating off last 3 days as went away, so got an idea of how house cools without heating. It was surprisingly little for a Victorian house. Living room got down to 15.0 on Wed and Thurs. Gonna go over gas budget today as the fabric of the house gets back to normal though. I did leave some frost protection on by the way. It's not that I'm tight (I am), it was because I've had radiator hammer in the past, and that could cause damage or annoy next door.
