I'm not absolutely sure that this is correct.Daveb wrote:Hi everyone! Havnt been on for a while, i was talking to my girlfriends mum who is a nurse, and she told me something interesting, she always has garlic oil capsules in the medicine cupboard and apparently taking 5 capsules is the equivalent of an antibiotic, just thought I'd share with you all (sorry if it's already been mentioned) but I think antibiotics would become very difficult to come by if anything happens and garlic oil can be bought easily to add to your preps for the future, I'm going to be ordering a couple of books on edible wild foods and natural medicines, but if anyone else knows of any other medical tips I'd be grateful, cheers
I know that garlic has some antibacterial qualities but to say that a large dose is the equivalent of an antibiotic is, I believe, flawed.
Rubbing a garlic clove on a small cut may be beneficial and aid healing but its use fighting a full blown infection (say, a tooth abscess) is slight to non-existent.
On a lighter note, if I may offer my support to The-gnole, we have a family saying as follows "An apple a day keeps the doctor away but an onion a day keeps everyone away"
