or he may just be the one chap (out of many who will survive) who can actually help others and "lead" them through a shtf situation - why do you have to put a "negative" slant on it? He didn't say he was going to lead the nation as the next "Jesus" / "Saviour", just that he has a feeling deep down that he is here for a purpose and believes he will survive teofwawki - and maybe help others through it as well.

I would like to believe myself that if I survive, I would help another person, beside my family, through a shitty situation as well.

Knew I shouldnt have said anything! :D

Its not meant in a "I am your leader" kind of way. (Honest). I have just always had a feeling that one day I am going to be relied upon by a lot of people. I have been prepering myself for one day that I am going to have to step up and help a lot of other people.
Think more Frodo Baggins less Hitler!!!

I am trying to justify a crazy feeling that I was hoping another would share clearly not the case, I am just mad! Look out people here comes the messiah! :lol:

@pathfinder
Reading your post actually made me think.. I kinda have the same feeling.. i am a leader of sorts already, ppl look to me for advice and information or help.. So i can only imagine in a SHTF situ that that would just become 10fold.. esp as I am a prepper and therefore already organised as best i can be.

That IS terrifying.. :shock:

sorry, it just struck me as hilarious :lol: on a serious note, i would be a bit concerned about someone who pushed themselves forward"i am your leader" type, sounds a bit "Captain Mannering" to me.

I think the best reason for me to survive would be to look after my partner & not to fail. I'm not even bothered about famly tbh, there are a couple people I would hunt out if safe to do so because I know they have a desire to survive. I think people prove this already in the willingness to do any job to pay the bills rather then go unemployed and lose what they have worked for. When I left the army I cleaned toilets for 12 months, never been treated worse by strangers in asda, looking down their nose at me, even if they were unemployed. But my desire to succeed, let me where I am today, years ahead of my counter parts.

I know similar people would face adversity, stand tall and do not fear.

But on a serious note, will the idealists form of 'democracy' be the one which passes the survival of the most adaptable? Democracy is a great thing, but it has it's drawbacks and in a post SHTF situation, there will be a need for those of a strong mentality to lead those who are lost or I'll prepared. I know there are many who would wish for a utopian democratic society after SHTF but I think in the immediate term, necessity will take over.

I don't think there is anything wrong with what Pathfinder said, I have similar feelings and I in no way have any religious or cultist feelings, I just try to prepare myself mentally to deal with things which will come about. If that means I help people then all the good, if it means I am part of a leadership group which helps people, then good, if I just assist with my knowledge and expertise to someone who is chosen to lead, then all is good.

Just because someone feels like a natural leader doesn't mean they are some religious wacko. In fact, trying not to derail the topic, it's the religious lot I am most worried about post SHTF, anyone watched the film 'The Mist', perfect example......

if someone wants to help, then thats fine but i will run a mile from someone who puts themselves up as some kind of "natural leader".

there will be a lot of people who survive by chance, are not prepared, and will only be too happy to "follow the leader". And thats the difference between you/me and the rest of the sheep. And then there are a lot of people, like you and me, who won't want to "follow the leader" and will go their own way and make their own way in the world regardless of the situation.
