I'm freezing my butt off...help !
Re: I'm freezing my butt off...help !
@Kp..Think I will take my chances having a wee outside rather than trying to do it in a bottle, it's o'k for the guys but for a woman... I had my dressing gown on and my woolen coat, looked a right fool but it warmed me up a little, The idea of a small tent inside the big tent is a cracker
Re: I'm freezing my butt off...help !
A big campsite tent will not take 'the brunt of the weather' in my opinion. If its a bug out plan, then it's crazy going for huge 'multi bedroom' tents. They will not withstand wind properly and it's a very poor long term solution in my opinion... If that's all you have then fair enough, but if you are prepping, stay far away from multi bedroom family campsite tents. They will never last!

Praying it doesn't blow away tonight...Going to have to re-think my plans. I would love to bug in WTSHTF but to many scallys around here, my house would have to be like fort knox and fire and petrol bomb proof...
Re: I'm freezing my butt off...help !
K theres been a lot of discussion about bugging in or out with some interesting views. Have a search for some of the topics. Bugging out may sound like the better option but BI may be safer in many circumstances. As TG will most probably attest, don't ever become a refugee, if you are BO, make sure you have somewhere to BO to.
Unless the local situation is desperate, I will be BI with the family. Sure there is local risk but the grey man philosophy has its benefits.
Great to hear you trying a stop out, I will most likely be doing something similar with the boy at some point to give him some experience of being under canvas

Well, you will have to get down the gym and work out to carry that large family tent AND the one to go inside to keep warm... Better carry one tent to do them all. It's not that hard. Campcraft is allot of fun and trying it out now as you are is a good way to go. Ditch the multi room though... It is a non starter unless for summer holidays if that's your thing. There's a reason aboriginal people tend to live in one larger space...

The tent is putting up a fair fight in this wind, Went out to peg down a few lose pegs but she is still standing...RESULT If it wasn't so darned windy I would take her down but don't fancy chasing the tent all around the garden ! We have snow today as well, The really, really cold snow ! brrrr, Maybe the electric might go off today so II can try bugging in?

I don't see what you're trying to achieve here - I think maybe it would be better to leave it until summer (hahaha) and then you can live out - cook/wash etc in the tent. Because what you're doing now has no real point, you know? Why suffer when you don't have to
Re: I'm freezing my butt off...help !
I want to experience the suffering. Need to get used to hardships if/when TSHTF. I need to toughen up. What happens if I find myself in a situation where living in a tent is my only option? Anyway, apart from the cold, it was kinda fun

Ok, well maybe try now and get some really warm clothes, stuff you could wear outdoors? Wee set of camp cooking pots, etc, you know?
