i did the same when branston beans were on 3 for 99p
did the same with bacon grill and luncheon meat , why do they look at you like you`ve lost your marbles .
asda are still doing simmer soups 3 for a £1 , makes around a pint .depending on how thick you want it
pasta soups are 4 for £1 , just add hot water stuff .
YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .

I have found that tinned stuff from pound shops tends to have quite short shelf life. I guess they get it in cheap when suppliers stocks nears the end of the shelf life ? I know Tescos for example only accept deliveries when it has at least 11 out of 12 months shelf life remaining. The short shelf life isn't a problem if you are going to rotate regularly, but not so great if it sits at the back of the cupboard. Personally I go through my tins every 3 months and anything with 3 months or less remaining will go on the 'to be eaten before next review' shelf.

i take it you dont put the new tins at the back of the cupboard and move the old stuff to the front so it gets eaten first??

Ideally, yes I do, but sometimes stuff can sit on the shelf for a while and go out of date anyway, hence I review my tins and check theres nothing coming close to its BB date. (and yes, I realise BB dates are fairly conservative on most tins :D )

The 'review' also helps me check what is used regularly and what isn't -> store what you eat and eat what you store, mantra...
