Agricultural supplies places like CountryWide sell 20Kg bags of raw peanuts (intended as bird seed) quite cheaply.

Now that you have mentioned it, I might get a few of them in, keep them for a year, and next autumn get some more and feed the original stash to the chickens and the birds. This would keep available a constantly rolling supply of peanuts which could be roasted post SHTF.

Indeed you are, Aldi peanuts for birds states "not fit for human consumption"
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

well that is really confusing, it seems the problem is the 'nil detectable aflatoxin' that is needed, but since it has been found that the aflatoxin level was killing birds in the ones that were deamed 'not for human consumption' that is the label you now see on bird feed
'nil detectable aflatoxin'
So there is a good chance that the ones in the bird food section are now better than the ones for us??? :?

I was hoping to find an official food health site but didnt, so it could all be rubbish, but it seems to be what the RSPB are saying.

Peanuts are superb food but dangerous if allowed to develop mould. It is the mould that produces the aflatoxin. This is pretty lethal. I like peanuts but they are not featuring in my prepping for this reason.
