He has built log cabins in them,(large wood hut with a door) .he doesn't get meithered by any tress passers other than the odd rambler.and because the cabins are made using logs and don't have power or running water he doesn't get bothered by any building regs.
The only consideration he has given to 1 of the sites is a portaloo at one of them where he takes his family

Whilst on the subject there is a group/society that give mortgages for the purchase of land plots used for conservation and communal natural things.will try and find the link and post it

that would be interesting.

http://www.ecology.co.uk/mortgages/lending/ is an example of a lender of this sort of project.

I can see everyone's point, realistically I think you'd have to start small. No more than 10, I have been looking into this for quite some time now (years actually we need to get the finger out) with a few close friends. I think that's the best way to start, If your all pretty like minded and you already get along your ahead of the curve as far as small community goes.

Of course we all have our own special skill sets apart from general bushcraft , we have a Soldier, fireman, policeman, carpenter, mechanic and im an electrical engineer and one upon a time I was an electrician .... our partners also have useful skills like Nurse, Nutritionist, dentist, chef .... they also come in handy for cooking , cleaning, laundry & complaining lol.

I'd hate to start something like this with someone I don't really know, All the people in our group have known each other for more than 15 years now. I don't really foresee any major problems arising in the group.

we are kind of lucky in a way as none of us have children and decisions can be made much easier as a group of adults

this is the kind of places we've been looking at http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/07/09 ... sh_bunker/ the facility itself was good but the location wasn't ideal for what we wanted.

Commune - eeek no

Community - yes!

Safety in number, skills, socialisation, help, support and all that with space if the separate plot thing is a goer, then yes count me in.

It will be a challenge, it only to set up, but to manage but it's an attractive idea

Im in the Linconlshire area, would be great to have a coffee and chat with like minded people, it would however be quite difficult for me to get away as work 7days a week over my two jobs and most of the time when I get the odd day off I tend to spend it sleeping!! :( but if everyone else was able to make it im sure i could keep myself awake!!

Hey guys,

Thanks matt, I'll keep it in mind and will get south soon! mogs, is one of your jobs in a coffee shop by chance? Hehe well I'm struggling a little at the min to do anything but work myself but I promise I will make the effort to travel soon. Got a few phone calls to make this week with more prepper research and may let you in on my findings if I get some answers. Cheers guys
