Rusty, I'm in the north east so your only a couple hours away (ish), like I said once I'm on my feet and have tamed the beast that is my job I'm more than happy to meet up, or even meet you and bring you south to meet with the rest of the mob, in the nicest possible meaning of the word!

Sounds great, sadly I doubt anyone would want me and mine pitching up. As useful as we all are, there are 9 of us in this household, not including family pets or outside family!

I'd totally be up for something like that though. Land is never a bad thing to have your name on... My only concern really is that if TSHTF, who's to say we'd actually be safe there...? Surely a whole bunch of us camping out in a self-sustainable community style way is going to attract passing attention...? And what if we arrive and someone has already claimed our space? The only real reason I can see for bugging out to a location like that is if it's not safe for my family to stay at home, and then we're making major assumptions that it'll be safe in our community location too.

And that's before you get into the politics and personality clashes that are bound to happen.

I completely agree with you about "is it actually safe" my mind is thinking, underground network of rooms/tunnels etc for emergency situations, storage etc (hidden entrance ofcourse!) with small cabins above for general living, nothing over stated so for a passer by it wouldnt look to appealing? obviously idea needs alot of work etc but thats a thought!

I`m interested too, so count me in on this idea, pls!
There is a similar situation in a novel called Patriots, there is a base/farm, 1 couple living there, all the others in the cities and will come at a SHTF sitation. They stockpile supplies at base before an EVENT for everyone. However they know each other well, only dozen people. Kind of paramilitary org.

You've hit the nail on the head. In the book it was people they had known for a long time not just met on an Internet forum

They had to start somewhere to know each other (uni) to find people with similar interest, common goal, why can`t we start it here? We got time on our hand too...Would make me feel better if I have a plan C, like this... Meet up, lets see if it works...Try.
