lpg in your car is delivered to your engine bay as a liquid and needs warming to become a gas ,
propane is delivered as a gas to your cooker or heater .
if you invert a propane bottle of any size you can run your car on it ,
but you can`t run your cooker / heater on lpg as the pick up tube is set to deliver it as a gas .
but both can be refilled of an lpg pump if you know the owner .
Not sure I agree with all of that,
I had a V8 Landy on LPG never needed to pre-heat that one.
LPG/Propane/Autogas is the same stuff, I run my cookers on LPG/Propane/Autogas but don't see why I would invert the bottle to do so Inside my portable bottles there is no pick-up tube, just a valve on the top.
I was thinking of getting an LPG convertion kit for a genny I had the kit is much the same for most gennies
the romano kit , the big silver thing is connected to your cars water system when you run the engine the warm water passes through it to heat the liquid gas into a vapour .
the genny setup is similair except the mixing ring is fitted under the carb . as for the adaptor , yes it will fill a propane bottle off lpg pumps ,.
the idea of inverting the gas bottle is so the you get liquid gas rather than gas vapour to your engine . if you look at a regular lpg tank det up it has a diptube inside not much differant to a petrol tank.
YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .
Yep, I know how that goes, I had one, but on the V8 I didn't need to warm the gas to vapourise it like some vehicles do, I could start it straight off on gas without needing petrol at all.
So are you talking about the bulk storage tanks, not portable bottles, Home tanks have the gas out on the top as a gas, service stations who sell LPG/propane/autogas have their take-offs at the bottom as a liquid.
Or are you talking about the vehicle mounted gas storage tanks having a dip-tube?
I drive a forklift for work, its a gas powered one that runs on liquid propane.
The gas bottles we use only work if horizontal and the correct side down.

They also have a different attachment thread for the hoses so can't be used for other equipment, also they have a black colored top to distinguish them apart.
Do they also have PNG (Pressurised Natural Gas) equipment? Some places are using that as it is a good way to stop people using the LPG for other purposes, and also cheaper.

I for one am glad that we have a diffrent type as I could never puncher the other types
These cans are good for many years if stored in a cool dark and dry place.
But they are really expensive in comparison to other types of gas bottles which can often be filled at petrol stations if you have their permission to do so.
These cans are good for short term use and easy to pop one in the car etc for use away from home, but for longer term get a big bottle and a good little stove.
Thanks long term will most proberly be a rocket stove as well as an outdoor oven

not sure if its any help but if youre after propane/butane bottles and head to garage etc they want 50 quid deposit + the 30 quid for whats inside, however our local scrapyard cant do anything with them so you can walk in and take them for free, saves them emptying and paying to get rid of, if youre after a few just give a fiver for a couple of pints and they will be happy... may help someone out

Also Household waste/recycling sites have them, they usually return them to the owners i.e. Calor, countrywide etc
I have a look for the smaller camping gaz types 904 or 907 bottles, have even managed a couple of full ones. Though I do avoid the smaller 1lb size as it is too expensive to get that size re-filled.
