Hi Fenland prepper, good to read your message. I just joined today and am very interested in basic prepping for everyday emergencies at May occur. I am in the process of researching tools and equipment for preparing for these and putting together an edc bag. It would be good to hear your views on this. Scorpion22.

Hi, spent a bit of time thinking about what to say. The problem with edc bags or get home bags is it depends on your curcumstances. I work all over the country so i can be in scotland or down on the south coast and maybe a couple hundred miles from home. So my kit contains things geared up for a long trip back.
In the car I keep a larger bag that contains a good sleeping bag, two US mre packs for the variety and long life they have and bottled water, bivi bag in case I take the sleeping bag with me, a basha, walking boots, my camo parka, trousers, gloves and hat.
On top of that in my smaller bag I keep a good strong pocket knife, multy tool, toilet roll, wet wipes, pens, pad to write on, more water, energy bars, emergency money £100, spare socks / underwear, 2 torches, spare batteries, first aid kit, emergency survival blanket, compass, small wash kit. Foot plasters, could be a long way back!
The larger bag has other stuff to back up the small bag but the larger back stays in the car all the time. The small bag which I call my EDC bag is always with me.
Its hard to advise on makes because its always about budget, shop around and get the best you can afford, there are some great deals on Ebay.
As for torches I say go for cree ultrafire torches, the prices are good and I can honestly say that I have never had a brighter torch. Some are designed with self defense in mind and some have built in sos programs.
Hope that helps, aside from that have a look on youtube for edc bags.
