It does seem like you have come across a group of end of days, end times, global thermonuclear war, total global economic collapse and lets all live in a cave whilst the space aliens anally probe those who have still got a roof over their head kind of crowd.

Whats that about water? we live in the UK where we have rivers and sometimes even rainfall....

and we might even have a saucepan handy to boil the water in so that we can kill off any pathogens and a t-shirt to strain out the solid particles and a camp fire to produce charcoal to make a better water filter with and the like.

we will usually find water.

The guy you were speaking to was a grade "A" Turkey, possibly with a bat or two in the belfry.

I'm preparing for what I think is gonna happen (delayed pay cheques, powercuts, not being able to get out due to having a cold and the like.... the latter of which has happened my cold was diabolical but I didn't need to leave the house for any supplies as I had all I needed), you prepare for what you think is gonna happen or is most likely to.

You are doing fine and don't let the Grade A Turkeys Gobble away at your self esteem. Their bats in the belfry are whispering strange ideas in their heads, their Napoleon complexes make them feel that they should be bullying everyone and they assume quite falsely that everyone should be like them.

Screw them all IMHO.

The worlds full of "soul stealers" mate, at the end of the day, you prep for your own needs , if you are happy with your purchases, thats all that counts.

hehehehe I once found a tin of sardines 10 years out of date that I had moved with me 5 times before I used it. I think I have a tin of mackerel that has moved with me 3 times somewhere in back of the cupboard and will most properly move with me this time as I dislike mackerel more than sardines. Don't worry about it.

 Definitely! Don't worry damaralenoire. You are doing fine. Prep for what you feel is important and what you can afford to do. Even on here several of us prep in different ways but we respect each other and each other's opinions. So don't worry - to reiterate: you are doing fine. Dont let them put you off. You prep as you want to, we all do...There are so many debates out how to prep but its a personal choise, based on so many factors.

Your a Prepper, I am a Prepper, everyone on this site is a prepper. Whether we agree with your preps or your methods, or indeed vice versa there is not need to be abusive, and am thankfull on this site we have good moderators and good member. 8-)

Stay safe.

Your reply could be something like this

"My preps are not your preps. Because I, am not you."

This guy comes across as one of the "Lvl III SAPI, AR-15, 2,500 rounds of 5.56 and 3 tons of MRE's" and waiting for the Zompocalypse types that you see on Doomsday Preppers*.

I'm prepping for the 'bumps in the road' and (if I'm reading you right) so are you.

*in other words, an arsehole (but he'd probably insist you'd spelt it wrong ;) )

So assuming you're doing it all wrong and the other guy is doing it all the right way and assuming that post shtf there's no water , which also means we may assume there'll be nothing growing for food , can we assume then that this font of wisdom has enough food and water stored for the rest of his life ? Or can we assume he's been watching too many zombie alien films?
Carry on as you are and prep for the likely things that might happen.

Exactly this. Except the cold part, I haven't had one of those yet this year.

As someone else said ... sounds like an end of the world prepper to me.

You only have to look at America right now. Some people can't go outside because of the subzero temperatures and snow, they might not be able to get any food in .... but you'd be alright with some mash n stuffing (get some gravy on it!!) .... and where would you get your water??!!?? There's ten foot of snow out there :)

Don't listen to them.

I always wonder if I'm doing things in the right order, but then I realise at least I'm doing something to look after my family.

Every prep I buy makes us that little bit better off!
