Re: wind up lanterns

I haven't seen those before :) We have lots of wind up torches (Poundland or eBay I think) but they're not particularly bright or reliable, so it's false economy I think... I didn't think of lanterns though. I'm reluctant to use candles when my boys are about, not only because of the safely element,...

Re: herbal solutions

I bought this book late last year, and have tried out a lot of different remedies from it (some were a lot more successful than others!) http://www.amazon.co.uk/1001-Natural-Remedies-Laurel-Vukovic/dp/0751364479 I try not to take painkillers - I realised about eight or nine years ago that the more I...

Re: Winter Blackouts

...and in fact my plans for warmth were also rather pathetic. I'd vaguely thought of our open fire, but we've not stocked up on wood for that yet. I've also got lots of hot water bottles, but not a particularly convenient way of filling them without using the kettle...

Re: Winter Blackouts

Our electricity goes off regularly, especially when it's raining and windy (the electricians are stumped but think there's a dodgy cable that they can't find) so we are quite used to power cuts. We've got a big supply of candles and torches, a gas camping stove, food that's easy to cook on it, and a...

Re: Anyone into geocaching?

I've got the geocache app on my phone, and have taken my boys out a few times to find some. They have a fab time, and it's a lovely way to spend your afternoons :) It's a good opportunity to get the kids out in the fresh air, and they think following clues to search for treasure is brilliant! As the...

Re: Warning Signals In Your Urine Color

One of my sons ate a great big blob of glittery play doh once. When I changed his nappy, there was a giant sparkling poo

(...I never thought I'd be one of those people who chat about their child's poo. I'm sorry )
