Re: wind up lanterns
I haven't seen those before :) We have lots of wind up torches (Poundland or eBay I think) but they're not particularly bright or reliable, so it's false economy I think... I didn't think of lanterns though. I'm reluctant to use candles when my boys are about, not only because of the safely element,...

Re: herbal solutions
I bought this book late last year, and have tried out a lot of different remedies from it (some were a lot more successful than others!) http://www.amazon.co.uk/1001-Natural-Remedies-Laurel-Vukovic/dp/0751364479 I try not to take painkillers - I realised about eight or nine years ago that the more I...

Re: Winter Blackouts
Our electricity goes off regularly, especially when it's raining and windy (the electricians are stumped but think there's a dodgy cable that they can't find) so we are quite used to power cuts. We've got a big supply of candles and torches, a gas camping stove, food that's easy to cook on it, and a...

Re: Anyone into geocaching?
I've got the geocache app on my phone, and have taken my boys out a few times to find some. They have a fab time, and it's a lovely way to spend your afternoons :) It's a good opportunity to get the kids out in the fresh air, and they think following clues to search for treasure is brilliant! As the...

One of my sons ate a great big blob of glittery play doh once. When I changed his nappy, there was a giant sparkling poo
