Re: potassium permanganate and glycerol fire starter

Please be careful when using any Alcohols (CH Groups) and Oxidising Agents. Pyrotechnic compositions are far more sensitive to unintended initiation than either commercial or military grade explosives. Avoid confinement at all costs ands do keep them separate. Beware of the quantities that you acqui...

Re: I think i scare too easy... ICE AGE?

[quote="redskies"]The only constant in the history of the planet is change. Humans are stupid. The stupidest species here. We're the only ones who try to hold the world in a never changing 'perfect moment' - it doesn't work like that. The bottom line is adapt or die. If we can prepare for ...

Why we prep....

So, there I was driving to the gym in my old LR90 Pick Up when the gearbox decided to withdraw its labour with an awful screeching noise(is there any screeching noise that isn't awful?   Anyways, luckily (or as Mr Spock used to say - Random factors seemed to have occurred in ou...

Re: Possible winter power outs

Just a gentle reminder to anyone looking at using any sort of hydro carbon fuel to heat their homes in the event of a power outage. Make sure you have a working carbon monoxide monitor and whichever room the heater is in, make sure there is sufficient ventilation - not obvious in the sealed in insul...

Re: SHTF Personal Protective Equiptment

I've just read this thread quickly but it is worth mentioning that in Shetland they developed an extra long version of the leather biker jacket in plain black with the added layer of a leather "waistcoat" (usually from an old biker jacket made sleeveless). Those kids were tough and quite ...

A moral compass in an TEOTWAWKI Scenario

The responses that evolved out of the occupation based prepping post raises an interesting philosophical point. In a complete WROL situation or TEOTWAWKI scenario - what would you do to protect your loved ones or close friends? Would the moral codes that we live by in our normal lives be in any way ...

Re: What seems to be missing.

1 ounce silver bars are easily stashed and silver has use as an industrial metal. Whilst recognising that it may be difficult to check purity post TEOTWAWKI, I still believe that it has use as an 'asset'. Currently, I would never hold any 'paper' shares as savings that infer something is worth somet...

Re: Air Bunker

This is something I've been researching and I haven't come across a definitive answer. I was wondering, if i was to build an underground bunker using a shipping container, have a hatch with a ladder at the top. As well as that have it sitting half in the ground and half above and then pile it up wi...
