Re: Growing food that don't look like food

I work in town, and a regular lunchtime walk is up through a quite nice housing estate, which has been planted up with loads of hedges along the green area walkways. These, to my delight, consist of Plums, Gages, Cherries and also loads of blackberries. I get lots of strange looks when I go 'scrumpi...

Re: Food Prices

We are quite lucky in that our local abattoir (which supplies Sains"") has a shop open to the public - meat there is half the price that Sains sells it for and probably a darn site fresher. We tend to stock up here and bag up accordingly. Also, our local Budgens has had a closing down sell...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

Planning to half the garage space as its only being used for 'junk' (or tools and equipment which may be needed according to other half). False wall put up and storage/utility space for me - Man Cave in the rest of the space for himself. (I will have access to the roof space as well - so loads of pl...

Re: What are you planning to grow 2016.

I have been allocated an allotment in our village. Over the Moon :D . Its roughly 5m x 20m with an existing fruit cage full of lovely currents and gooseberries - the chap who had the allotment before me has passed them on to me - yay. We put the shed up this weekend and I am soooo looking forward to...

Re: Dates on bandages etc

I have to rotate the stock on our First Aid Boxes here at work. (Purely for H&S reasons and auditing out of date stock).
Needless to say, my home/car first Aid boxes are 'adequately' stocked.

Re: Tins (Oxo, Old Holborn etc)

My daughter has a thing for the Lush range of toiletries. They sometimes have tiddly little tins with a dollop of "stuff" in to try for a pound or larger ones to buy product in (face/hair/body/lippy stuff). I think the smallest are about 10p piece size the largest about 3" across - al...

I picked up some 6" - 6 hour glow sticks today from the local newsagents for 50p each - was selling them with the Halloween stuff.
Adding them to my car bag just in case.

Re: any of you on prescribed meds?

Where I am, before the winter starts, we have a voluntary list/rota of people in the town who own a four wheel drive and who would be willing to do local runs for the chemist/doctors/shop etc like picking stuff up and dropping vulnerable people to their appointments if needed. Our town council have ...
